Dear Somerville High School Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are thrilled to welcome our students and staff back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families over the summer break.
Our incredible staff of educators have spent the past few weeks of summer preparing classrooms for the new school year. We are grateful to our amazing custodial staff as they worked all summer getting our school in pristine shape. Our administration is working hard to ensure a smooth start for staff, students, and families.
We also have several new additional members joining the tribe this year to help make your students’ experience an engaging and enjoyable one. We have three new members of our English and Social studies content areas along with two new members (Jaycee Morgan & Nikki Kaldis) of our Career and Technology classes. Our team expands as we share our new Dyslexia specialist, Ms. Toliver, between both campuses this year to better support our students.
Somerville High School is such a special place to learn and grow and we are proud of our school traditions and have high expectations for every student. Our students are kind, resilient, and eager to learn. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. Our Yegua theme for this year is “Tribe,” we will continue to guide our mission to provide a rigorous and joyful inclusive school environment. Our ultimate goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.
Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and emotionally. We are excited to partner with you and your student at the start of a new school year and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning while focusing on building classroom community.
Sincerely,
Steven Toliver
