The P.E.M.M. (Positive Encouraging Motivational Movement) Squad presented their group and mission to the School Board members and community at the recent School Board meeting. Their goal is to spread positivity throughout the Elementary and Intermediate campus, encouraging our students to be the best that they can be.

The Elementary/Intermediate is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day!


Mrs. Webb's Pre-K Class have been learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. this week and celebrating how special and unique we all are! We have also been learning about MLK's dreams and coming up with our own, as well as finding ways (big and small) that will help us change the world!

This Friday, January 13th, Steered Straight will be presenting information throughout the day to all of our students on the dangers of vaping, drug use, and bullying. Michael Deleon, a renowned national speaker and founder of Steered Straight, will also be offering a free parent informational meeting that night beginning at 5:00 in the Somerville Elementary/Intermediate Gym. Michael is an energetic and impassioned speaker who truly wants to help kids and adults of all ages understand the dangers that our children face today.Please go to steeredstraight.org for more information.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 1st SISD Education Foundation Teacher Grant! Clover Cochran, Michelle Jobes, and Molly Perez have received a $500.00 grant to enhance, promote and augment classroom instruction in areas not allotted in regular budgetary funds. We look forward to hearing their success stories in future meetings regarding their grant award and how it impacted the classroom and students.

Congratulations to ten members of the Somerville Yegua Band for being selected to the 2022-2023 TMEA / ATSSB All-Region Band.The contests were held at Smithville High School on Saturday, December 3rd for the Region 18/26 Middle Schools and on Saturday, December 10th for the high schools. Participating schools included Brentwood Christian, Burton, Caldwell, Columbus, Flatonia, Giddings, Gonzales, Hallettsville, La Grange, Lexington, Manor New Tech, McDade, Meridian World School, Richards School For Young Women, Rockdale,Schulenberg, Shiner,Smithville,Somerville, Taylor, Thorndale, Thrall, Weimar, and Wimberley.

Dear Parents,
We are thrilled to be presenting the 2022 Christmas program that will include all of our music students from Pre-K through 4 th grade. There will be singing and even a play that includes a sequel. We ask that you have your children at the Yegua Center by 5:45 so that they can be seated on the floor with their
class. (The doors will be open as early as 5:30 for this.)
The order of performances will be as follows:
1. Pre-K
2. Kindergarten
3. 3 rd Grade – short musical
4. 1 st Grade
5. 2 nd Grade
6. 4 th Grade – short musical sequel
We want to see as many parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and neighbors as possible so that this is a joyous event for everyone in Somerville. The children have been working very hard to make this special for all. We look forward to seeing you there.
