This week has been amazing! We hosted the Varsity Track Koppers Relays on Thursday, 3-11-21 and the Jr High on Friday, 3-12-21! The meet was a big time success because of all the support we received from coaches, teachers, booster club, students, and especially the community! Everyone pitched in! The big winners were the Somerville athletes and all the teams that competed! We would like to send a special thank you to Koppers for their financial support and all the volunteers that helped out during the track meet! We also want to thank the Somerville Booster Club for working the concession stand and thank you to Amanda Flencher for making sure we had everything we needed! Another big thanks goes to Joe Gonzales for bringing his pit and cooking the meals. Thank you to all my Coaches an the Maintenance Dept for getting it ready and working the meet! A big shout goes to Ms. I for handling the computers and meet entries and making things go smoothly! Thanks Ms. Jackson for assisting her. Lastly, thank you Dennis Mikulin for announcing the meet and Ms Baugus for organizing each teams medals. I know many others were involved and please know we really appreciate the help and it didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you everyone for making this meet go smoothly and efficiently! Girls R2 D3 Powerlifting Meet, Dublin, TX Unfortunately, our two senior girl lifters, Kyra Watson and Jazmine Jackson, did not have the day we were all hoping for them to have. I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and effort to help me start this program from nothing. What they helped to create will go on past them for many years to come. However, there was a very bright spot on the day. Freshman, Bree Surovik qualified for the state meet in Corpus Christi as the top 2A girl in her 181 lb weight class. I’m so proud of the work she’s put in and the years to come of her certain dominance in the sport. -Coach Ethan Watson
