Yegua Seniors and Senior Parents,
Opening Soon!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is expected to open soon for the 2024-2025 year. You may be aware that it is delayed due to significant changes meant to simplify the process and help more students and families access additional aid opportunities.
What you can do now!
In anticipation of it opening by December 31st, here are some things you can do to prepare:
- Each person who adds information to the FAFSA is considered a contributor (Students, Parents and/or Spouses).
- Every contributor needs a Federal Student Aid (FSA) account to provide consent and approval with their own FSA ID.
- New to the FAFSA?
- If you do not have an FSA ID, students and FAFSA Contributors (Parents or Spouses) can create an FSA ID now! You MUST set up an FSA ID PRIOR to filing the FAFSA. It takes at least 3 days for the account to be created and ready for use! You can create one here: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.
- All FSA IDs (new and existing) need to have a verified email address. Be sure to verify your own email address - family members cannot use the same one.
- Already have an FSA ID?
- You must have your email address verified prior to use. This is the case for all FSA ID. Log in with your info here: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing and follow the instructions to verify!

Hello Yeguas!
Please see the attached flyer regarding the Somerville ISD HealthPoint clinic hours during the holidays. Also, suppose you have not pre-registered your student with our onsite HealthPoint clinic. In that case, you can access the registration paperwork by clicking this link: https://www.somervilleisd.org/o/somerville-isd/page/health-point or going to the main Somerville ISD website and clicking the HealthPoint button. Pre-registering your students allows them to be seen, with parental permission, by our onsite HealthPoint clinic quickly and efficiently. Our first semester with our clinic has been tremendous for our students and staff!
Merry Christmas!

Varsity Boys Tournament in Caldwell (Kolache Capital Invitational): SOMERVILLE 2nd PLACE! Way to go Yeguas!

Mrs. Carolyn Doonan and Mr. Time Zaskoda of the Burleson County Go-Texan Committee attended the FFA Christmas Luncheon on Dec 18, 2023, to talk to the seniors about the area Go-Texan Scholarships and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship deadlines. Eight seniors received information packets and had an opportunity to ask questions. A big thank you to them for coming out and supporting our students.

It was a magical morning in Pre-K today! For 8 years one of Santa's helpers (also known as Mrs. Webb's dad) has given blankets to every child in Pre-K! Today was blanket delivery day and the students were so excited to open their new cozy blankets! We are so grateful for this sweet tradition that has blessed so many over the years! Merry Christmas!

Hello Yeguas! State and federal law enforcement agencies have made us aware of a statewide bomb threat hoax directed toward various school districts across Texas. Both state and federal law enforcement agencies do NOT believe this is a credible threat and may have originated in Russia. No threats have been made toward Somerville ISD, but we will let you know if there are any additional developments.
