Arvis Burns 8
Gardner Shivers 5
Johnny Legg 3
Game notes
It was a great team effort. Arvis Burns did a great job of distributing the ball. Dominic Tucker, Verkobe Woodberry, and Brandyn Carter provided the scoring. We are always a better team when Dominic and Brandyn are aggressive and looking to score. Gardner Shivers really stepped up starting and doing a little of everything and showing the potential he has. Johnny Legg and Jesus Espinoza's first game back from injuries. Johnny"s first appearance of the season and Jesus's first game back after missing the last two games.

12-11-20
Somerville 53 vs Milano 52
Points:
Verkobe Woodberry 16
Arvis Burns 14
Brandyn Carter 13
Herschel Conway 5
Dominic Tucker 3
Gardner Shivers 2
Game notes:
Milano played a great game. We were trailing by as many as 20 points. I am so proud of how we continued to work hard and chip away. It was a total team effort. It was also an excellent opportunity to work on our conditioning and how to come back from a huge deficient. Our only two upperclassmen, Arvis & Verkobe, gave us the leadership we needed and they both also played every second of the game. We were also short handed because Jesus Espinoza did not play due to a leg injury. Every player stepped up when needed. Brandyn Carter scored and made some great winning plays throughout the game.
This is our best win of the season. It also shows how much we have grown as a team. I am so proud of all of my players. The effort is exactly what we need everyday at every practice and game.

12-12-20
Somerville 37 vs Thrall 53
Points:
Dominic Tucker 18
Arvis Burns 8
Gardner Shivers 6
Brandyn Carter 3
Verkobe Woodberry 2
Game notes:
We were down 3 at halftime and down 4 at the end of the 3rd quarter. We simply had nothing left for the 4th quarter. Again we were short-handed. Jesus Espinoza was out with an injury and Brandyn Carter left the game in the 1st half and was unable to return. The effort was good considering how physically and emotionally drained we were from the tough hard-fought Milano game. Thrall did a great job on the boards and their zone disrupted our offense. It was an opportunity for our younger players to get a lot of varsity playing experience.
This week we have 3 tough home games.
12-15-20 vs Leon JV 5 PM & Varsity 6:15 PM
12-18-20 vs Rosebud- Lott JV 2 PM & Varsity 3:15 PM
12-19-20 vs Lampasas JV 1 PM & Varsity 2:15 PM

12/8/2020 Boys Varsity Basketball
Somerville 35 vs Calvert 53
Scoring:
Dominic Tucker 7
Jesus Espinoza 6
Arvis Burns 6
Brandyn Carter 5
Herschel Conway 5
Verkobe Woodberry 4
Jaret Pinkerton 2
Gardner Shivers 0
Game notes:
Calvert has a special team this season. It was a good opportunity to host them. They dominated on the boards. They limited us to one shot and offensively they had multiple offense rebounds. They scored most of their points in the lane.
Next game Friday 12-11-20 Milano at Somerville JV 5 PM & Varsity 6:15 PM
Thank you.

SISD's Strategic Planning Committee Meeting: Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 5:30 PM!

12-4-20 Boys Varsity Basketball:
Yeguas 41
Fayetteville 28
Points:
Brandyn Carter 11
Arvis Burns 9
Herschel Conway 6
Jesus Espinoza 5
Verkobe Woodberry 4
Gardner Shivers 4
Dominic Tucker 2
Game Notes:
Tonight we were able to beat Fayetteville at their place despite multiple team players. Arvis Burns, an all- Brazos county player, only played 3-4 minutes of the 2nd half. So it was a great opportunity for our players to step up in a road varsity game. With Arvis out junior Verkobe Woodberry was the only upperclassman on the court for us. He provided the leadership we needed. Our sophomores (Brandyn Carter, Jesus Espinoza, & last season new-comer of the year Dominic Tucker) all played very well for us. Brandyn led us in scoring and showed flashes of how talented he is. Jesus & Dominic controlled the paint for us. Our two freshmen (Herschel Conway & Gardner Shivers) both played a lot of minutes and really stepped up. Gardner did a little of everything for us and Herschel made two 3s & provided some good defensive pressure.
Next game
12-8-20 We host the #1 pre-season 1A team according to Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball magazine Calvert.
We look forward to the challenge. It will be a rematch of last season's tough OT battle at the Bremond Tournament championship game.
Thank you.
Coach Billy Ramey
