The Somerville FFA Horse Judging Team competed at the Brazos County Horse Judging Contest at the Brazos Valley Expo Center on Jan. 10, 2022. *I am now registering for Within My Reach (Relationship Class) and also for the upcoming Parenting Class (all classes are for clients ages 18-24). The relationship class will begin Monday, January 24, 2022 and the parenting class will start afterwards. All classes will be held virtually via Zoom and will be held in the evenings for 6 weeks. Congratulations to Ra'Maya Carter for winning the Top High School Athlete of the Month Contest sponsored by Bryan College Station Toyota!
Ra'Maya Carter is a junior at Somerville High School. Ra'Maya is a very sweet, kind and loving athlete. She has received many awards being on Varsity.
Volleyball: Area Qualifier, Honorable Mention, All Academic and All District.
Basketball: Newcomer of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year and Area Qualifier.
Track: Regional Qualifier and State Qualifier, as well as MVP.
Softball: All District and Out Fielder of the Year
Tennis: Regional Qualifier 2 yrs.
Cross Country: Regional Qualifier 3 years and MVP, and Athlete of the Year
Band: State Qualifier, Symphonic Band and Musician of the Year.
Academics: 3.8 grade point average, as well as perfect attendance since Pre-K. Ra'Maya is am athlete who gives it her all on and off the court.

Congratulations to twelve members of the Somerville Middle School and High School Bands for their selection to the TMEA/ATSSB All-Region 18/26 Bands. The contest was held on Saturday, December 4th (Middle School) and Saturday, December 11th (High School). The following students were selected to the Middle School All-Region Band:
Hadley Howe - Symphonic Band (first band), Trumpet
Damien Ellis-Edison - Concert Band (second band), Bb Clarinet
Kyle Brooks - Concert, Trumpet

In addition to the All-Region honor, Ramaya Carter, Aubrey Kovasovic, and Abigail Flencher have advanced to the Area level and will try-out for the TMEA/ATSSB All-State Band on January 8, 2022. All of the Somerville all-region students will have a clinic / concert in January with the selectees from twenty four other schools. Congratulations again to all of these fine students.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION-Starting on Monday, December 13th you will need to utilize 9th street to pick up and drop off students. In the afternoon, parents will line up on 9th Street for car riders near the HS gym until buses are released. Once buses are released, then cars will turn on L Avenue to precede to the front of the Elem/Intermediate or exit L Avenue. CONSTRUCCIÓN DE CARRETERAS: a partir del lunes 13 de diciembre, deberá utilizar la calle 9 para recoger y dejar a los estudiantes. Por la tarde, los padres se alinearán en la calle 9 para los pasajeros en automóvil cerca del gimnasio de la escuela secundaria hasta que salgan los autobuses. Reminder: Basketball is in full swing! We have several games at home to attend to support our girls and boys basketball programs. Also, Congrats to both Varsity basketball teams this weekend on how well they performed in the tournaments! The boys took home the championship in the Leon Tourney and the girls took 2nd in the Thrall tournament!
